The Electronic Subscriber Information System (eSIS) was developed by PCS Security under the auspices of MHA and IDA initiative to provide retailers a more robust means to register the particulars of prepaid SIM card customers and to address the security threats pose by SIM cards.

  
 
Based on a client-server architecture, it consists of a client terminal located at the retail shops which registers the customer information and registration server at the telecommunication operators which performs the validation and regulatory checks
 
 
 

For regulatory authorities, eSIS provides the means to validate the purchase and ensure the various eligibility criteria are met. Telecommunication operators benefit from the comprehensive customer database by being able to deliver more customized marketing and promotions to their customer thereby improving service quality. Having a more accurate means of recording prepaid customer information allows enforcement agencies to collect intelligence better and for use in incidence investigation.
