Course Overview:

The LEVA Level 3 course focuses on the science of comparing and contrasting known objects, vehicles and clothing with CCTV images of questioned objects, vehicles, and clothing. The process of thoroughly analyzing for class and individual characteristics found in questioned evidence is examined in detail. Using tools in a forensic lab environment, analysts/examiners develop a scientific workflow involving the hands-on analysis of video evidence, analytical case report writing and courtroom presentation.

This course will be delivered in a 5 days classroom format. Participants will have to undergo and obtain a passing grade for the oral and written proficiency examinations in order receive the Course Certification.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand and articulate consistencies and inconsistencies between questioned and known objects.
  • Understand the process of Scientific Methodology as it relates to CCTV video and image compare and contrast.
  • Identify class and individual characteristics in known and questioned objects.
  • Develop effective note taking ability to provide scientific repeatability and court effectiveness.
  • Prepare video evidence for court.
  • Understand the boundaries for the forensic video export in court.
  • Develop competency with the production of comparison charts.
  • Develop skills in the process of identifying patterned clothing.
  • Develop advanced skills in the examination of video evidence.
